Author Trish Luna Speaks at Stanford University’s 6th Annual Teaching Cannabis & Other Drugs Awareness and Prevention Conference
We’re proud to share that Trish Luna, author of Lambi Learns: A Book About Prevention, was invited to speak at the Stanford University Research Lab’s 6th Annual Teaching Cannabis and Other Drugs Awareness and Prevention Conference—a leading event in the field of substance use education and early prevention.
Trish presented on Lambi Learns as a trauma-informed prevention strategy for elementary school children, offering a fresh, neuroscience-backed approach to early intervention. Her session focused on how building emotional regulation, resilience, and protective factors at a young age can reduce long-term risk of substance misuse and mental health challenges.
With decades of research highlighting the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on brain development and future substance use, Trish emphasized how trauma-informed tools—like Lambi—can change the trajectory for vulnerable children. By integrating social-emotional learning, early prevention, and story-based interventions, Lambi supports children in developing the skills they need to thrive.
This recognition from Stanford underscores the importance of bringing evidence-based, developmentally appropriate prevention tools into classrooms and homes across the country.
